Nearly a year and a half after Copa America and Euro glory crowned the continent’s best, the long-awaited Finalissima is finally locked in. Argentina Matches will take center stage in Lusail, Qatar, as the world champions face Euro winners Spain on March 27 in a blockbuster clash.
Four days later, Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez will return to the same iconic venue on March 31 for another high-profile fixture, reviving memories of Argentina’s fairytale triumph at the 2022 World Cup.
“𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒂 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒚 — 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒂 𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒈𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆,” 𝒂 𝒕𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅.
The matches form part of the Qatar Football Festival, running from March 26–31, which will feature six nations and six total games, turning Lusail into a global football hub once again.
Scaloni Sharpens World Cup Plans with Friendlies Argentina
With the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada approaching, Argentina is intensifying its preparation. Head coach Lionel Scaloni has confirmed a preliminary 50-man squad to guard against injuries and late setbacks.
“𝑾𝒆’𝒗𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒂 𝒃𝒊𝒈 𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒏𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕,” 𝑺𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒊 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝑭𝑨 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒐.
Reports from Argentine outlet TYC Sports suggest two more Argentina Matches are planned for early June, potentially against Mexico in Las Vegas and Honduras in Miami — both on U.S. soil, one of the tournament hosts.
Spain, meanwhile, will also stay in Qatar for another festival fixture against Mohamed Salah’s Egypt, while Saudi Arabia and Serbia complete the six-team lineup.
As Messi and his teammates look ahead to their World Cup opener against Algeria on June 16, the Lusail showdowns and upcoming U.S. friendlies are shaping up as the final steps in Argentina’s title-defense journey.
