Andy Tennant Steps Down as Essex Women’s Head Coach

Andy Tennant exits Essex Women head coach role

Andy Tennant has resigned as Essex Women’s head coach after less than a full season in charge. He was appointed last year following Essex’s promotion to Tier 1 status, but leaves with just five wins across all competitions.

Struggles Despite Previous Success

Tennant had guided Sunrisers to a maiden trophy in 2024, but could not replicate that success with Essex. The team managed only one win in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup, finished near the bottom in the Vitality Blast, and were eliminated by Yorkshire in the T20 County Cup.

Essex Look Ahead

Danni Warren, Essex Women’s performance director, praised Tennant’s role in the transition from Sunrisers to Essex.

Jason Gallian will lead the coaching staff for the remainder of the season while the club begins its search for a new head coach.
