Watch: Multan Sultans Owner Ali Tareen Publicly Rips PCB Notice

PCB

Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen has found himself at the centre of a heated controversy after publicly tearing a legal notice from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a viral video. Tareen, who owns one of the most valuable franchises in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), pays a massive annual fee of USD 6.35 million, the highest among all six teams.

PCB Warns of Termination and Blacklisting

The PCB issued a stern warning to Tareen, stating that the Sultans’ franchise contract could be terminated if he failed to apologise for his remarks about the board. Reports suggested that if Tareen didn’t retract his statements, he would be blacklisted from future PSL dealings.

The situation escalated on Thursday, October 23, when news of the legal notice surfaced. Tareen, known for his outspoken views, had repeatedly questioned the PCB’s claims of financial success regarding the PSL, accusing the board of mismanagement and poor administration in multiple public forums.

“𝑩𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝑺𝑳 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒊𝒙𝒕𝒉 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒈𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒔,” 𝑻𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒑𝒐𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆.

“This Is My Apology,” Says Tareen After Tearing the Notice

In response to the PCB’s demands, Tareen took to social media and posted a sarcastic video of himself tearing the notice, declaring,

“This is my apology.”

The act quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention and mixed reactions online. While some fans criticised his approach, many others rallied behind Tareen, praising him for speaking out against what they called “the board’s high-handedness.”

Multan Sultans, led by Mohammad Rizwan, finished as runners-up in the 2024 PSL season, losing to Islamabad United by two wickets in the final held in Karachi.
