Record Transfer Star Suffers Big Injury Blow at Liverpool

Alexander Isak’s difficult debut season at Liverpool has taken another harsh turn. The Swedish forward, signed from Newcastle United for a British-record Β£125 million, has been ruled out for nearly two months after undergoing surgery.

Since his blockbuster move, the 26-year-old has struggled to find rhythm due to recurring fitness issues. His output has reflected those problems, with just three goals from 16 appearances so far. Now, another injury has halted his progress once again.

Injury Confirmed After Spurs Clash

Alexander Isak picked up the injury during Liverpool’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Tottenham last Saturday. While attempting a shot in the 56th minute, he was caught by defender Mickey von Dey. Although he managed to score, the striker was forced to leave the pitch immediately, unable to continue.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot later confirmed the extent of the injury.

Slot also criticised the challenge that led to the injury, calling it β€œreckless, while admitting the recovery period will be mentally tough for the forward.

Alexander Setback for Club and Country

Isak’s injury woes are not new. He previously missed Newcastle’s pre-season Asia tour due to a thigh issue before finally completing his Liverpool move late in the transfer window. Limited preparation time made his adaptation difficult, something Slot acknowledged.

Despite the setback, Slot remains hopeful that Isak can still make a meaningful impact later in the season once fully fit.

The injury also poses a concern for Sweden, who are set to play World Cup qualifier play-offs in March. With Isak sidelined, his availability for those crucial fixtures now looks uncertain.

For now, Alexander Isak will focus on rehabilitation at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre, aiming to return stronger as the season enters its decisive phase.
