India speedster Akash Deep has found himself in trouble just days after purchasing his ‘dream’ car, a Toyota Fortuner, following India’s five-match Test series against England. The 28-year-old announced his new purchase on social media, sharing pictures with his family and captioning it, “Dream delivered. Keys received. With the ones who matter most.”
A High Security Registration Plate Missing Notice Has Been Issued
However, reports reveal that the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has issued a notice to Akash Deep for driving the vehicle without a High Security Registration Plate (HSRP). These special plates, mandated by the Indian government, are designed to prevent theft and forgery with features such as laser codes, holograms, and tamper-proof screws.
Deep’s black Toyota Fortuner lacked this required security plate, leading to the notice. Additionally, the dealer, M/s Sunny Motors, which sold the vehicle, has been penalized with a one-month suspension for failing to complete the registration process and install the HSRP on time. The company has 14 days to respond to the authorities.
Akash Deep’s Performance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
Despite his recent vehicle woes, Akash Deep made notable contributions during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. Battling injuries, the Bengal pacer took 10 wickets in the second Test at Edgbaston, including a six-wicket haul in the second innings. He also showed resilience with the bat, scoring a vital 66 runs in India’s second innings of the final Test at The Oval, helping India secure a thrilling six-run victory and draw the series 2-2.
