Ab de Villiers

In the sixth match of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, held on July 22 at the County Ground in Northampton, South Africa Champions outclassed India Champions by 88 runs, as determined by the Duckworth-Lewis method, due to AB de Villiers’ stellar all-round performance. The game became a nostalgic treat for fans.

AB De Villiers Reignites Magic with Stunning Boundary Fielding

The most talked-about moment of the match came in the eighth over of India’s innings. Yusuf Pathan launched a fierce shot that appeared destined for a six over long-on. But AB de Villiers, showcasing the agility he’s always been known for, sprinted to his right, slid, and executed a smart save just before crossing the boundary.

Thinking quickly, de Villiers tossed the ball mid-air while on the move. Teammate Sarel Erwee, sprinting in from deep midwicket, timed his dive perfectly and completed the catch — a moment that left spectators and even Yusuf Pathan stunned.

“That moment was pure brilliance. AB’s awareness and reflexes were just out of this world,” said a commentator during the live broadcast.

De Villiers Shines with the Bat Too

Earlier in the match, AB de Villiers lit up the ground with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 63 off just 30 balls. His explosive innings included three boundaries and four towering sixes, powering South Africa to a formidable total of 208 for six in 20 overs.

India’s chase never found momentum. They stumbled to 111 for nine in 18.2 overs before floodlight issues forced an early conclusion to the game. As a result, South Africa secured a comprehensive 88-run victory.

“Even after all these years, AB is still a game-changer. His performance today was vintage de Villiers,” a fan commented on social media after the match.

South Africa Tops the Table, India Trails Behind

With this dominant win, South Africa Champions now sit comfortably at the top of the WCL 2025 points table. Pakistan follows in second place, while the West Indies hold the third position. India Champions, struggling to find form, are currently at the bottom of the table.

The World Championship of Legends 2025 is being played across four stadiums in England. It features 18 thrilling matches among teams of legendary cricketers from India, Pakistan, South Africa, England, Australia, and the West Indies.

As the tournament progresses, fans can expect more nostalgic performances and unforgettable moments from the game’s legends. But for now, it’s AB de Villiers who has stolen the show once again.
