FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. In an official condolence message addressed to Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal, Infantino acknowledged Khaleda Zia’s historic role in Bangladesh’s political landscape.

Global Football Community Shares Bangladesh’s Khaleda Grief

Speaking on behalf of the international football community, the FIFA President conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Government of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Football Federation, and the country’s people during this time of national mourning.

The Bangladesh Football Federation later issued a statement expressing gratitude to FIFA and the global football fraternity for standing in solidarity with Bangladesh.

Begum Khaleda Zia, Bangladesh’s first woman Prime Minister, passed away on December 30 while receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. Her death marks the end of a significant chapter in the nation’s political history.
