The hosts of the upcoming African Nations Cup — set to take place in Morocco in 2027 — have unveiled the official tournament mascot and theme song, adding a cultural and festive flavour to the continental competition. The announcements were made at a colourful launch event in Casablanca, where fans, officials, and media gathered to celebrate the countdown to Africa’s biggest football festival.
Mascot and Song Celebrate African Culture
The official mascot — a spirited young lion named “Atlas” — was introduced to symbolize strength, pride, and unity. Organisers say Atlas reflects the spirit of African football and the rich heritage of the host nation. The playful character will feature across promotional materials, merchandise, and fan zones throughout the tournament.
Alongside the mascot reveal, organisers also debuted the official theme song, titled “Sauti ya Shujaa” — Swahili for “Voice of the Brave.” Performed by acclaimed artists Amina Faye and Kofi Mensah, the anthem blends traditional African rhythms with modern beats, aiming to unite fans from across the continent.
“We wanted a symbol and a song that represent Africa’s heart and soul — bold, joyful, and united,” said an event coordinator during the launch. “This is more than football; it’s a celebration of our culture.”
Fans Excited for the 2027 Showpiece
Social media quickly lit up with praise for both the mascot and the theme song, with supporters sharing graphics, dance clips, and fan artwork. Many fans expressed that the launch added excitement ahead of the tournament, which promises memorable football and a vibrant festival atmosphere.
Organisers also announced plans for fan engagement tours featuring Atlas and live performances of “Sauti ya Shujaa” across several African capitals — building momentum in the lead‑up to kickoff.
With qualifying still underway and stadium preparations progressing, this cultural launch marks a key moment in the road to the 2027 African Nations Cup.
