Kylian Mbappe has etched his name alongside Cristiano Ronaldo as only the second Real Madrid player to score 53 or more goals in a calendar year. The French captain achieved the feat during a 1-1 La Liga draw against Girona yesterday.
This marks the first time Mbappe has completed a full calendar year at the Spanish giants, while Ronaldo accomplished this remarkable milestone five times in nine seasons.
“Reaching this milestone feels incredible. Cristiano has set standards for all of us, and I’m proud to be following in his footsteps,” he said after the match.
Mbappe Breaking Records and Setting New Ones
Mbappe’s record-breaking form continued after his explosive performance in the UEFA Champions League. Just four days prior, he scored four goals against Olympiacos, helping Real Madrid secure a 4-3 victory. This mirrors Ronaldo’s four-goal haul against Malmö in the 2015/16 season.
The French superstar also broke Ronaldo’s record for the fastest hat-trick in Real Madrid history, completing it in just seven minutes, compared to Ronaldo’s 11-minute mark against Malmö.
Speaking about Ronaldo, Mbappe said,
“𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒂 𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒆. 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒊𝒎. 𝑯𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒑𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒆 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒕. 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒇𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝑹𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒅𝒐, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆.”
With his consistency and goal-scoring prowess, Mbappe is firmly establishing himself as one of the all-time greats at Real Madrid, while continuing to chase his own legendary milestones.
