Sridharan Sriram Joins as Assistant Bowling Coach for Chennai Super Kings

So, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) just made a cool move by hiring Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach right before the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season kicks off. It’s pretty exciting! He’s joining a coaching staff that includes the veteran Stephen Fleming as head coach, Michael Hussey working with the batsmen, and Eric Simons helping out with the bowling. Looks like CSK is gearing up for a strong season ahead!

Now, Sriram has some history in cricket. He’s played eight ODIs for India, and had a couple of brief stints in the IPL back in the day—first with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2010 and then with Delhi Capitals in 2011. He’s 49 now and brings a wealth of experience, having served as Australia’s spin bowling coach and even working as a technical consultant for Bangladesh. He’s been around the IPL scene for a while, having been part of teams like RCB, DC, Punjab Kings (PBKS), and most recently, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

At CSK, Sriram will be managing a pretty talented spin department. He’ll be working with some great players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Gopal, and Noor Ahmad. With those guys on the team, he’s got a real chance to make an impact.

CSK is all set to kick off their IPL 2025 season with a home match against their arch-rivals, the Mumbai Indians, on March 23. That’s gonna be a big match! Both teams have a fierce rivalry, and fans are definitely going to be on the edge of their seats.
