Manchester United are attempting to postpone the departures of Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. According to tournament rules, clubs must release players two weeks before their first group-stage match — meaning all three could miss multiple key fixtures in December and January.
United want the trio available at least until after the 15 December match against Bournemouth, instead of losing them around the Wolves game on 8 December. Morocco start the tournament on 21 December, while Ivory Coast and Cameroon follow on 24 December.
Amorim Hopes for Agreement
Manager Ruben Amorim confirmed the club is negotiating with the national federations.
“We are trying to have the players a bit longer, but it’s not just in our hands,” he said.
The potential absences could leave United short in attack, especially with Benjamin Sesko recovering from a knee issue. Amorim expects Sesko to return around the time the trio travel.
“He’s going to be out for a few weeks,” Amorim added. “When they go, I expect to have Ben back.”
