Indian captain Shubman Gill once again grabbed the limelight during the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium — not only for his outstanding batting performance but also for a moment that sent social media buzzing.
A female fan in the stands held up a placard reading “I love you Shubman”, recreating the famous “I love you Zaheer” moment that once went viral years ago. The camera captured the scene, and within minutes, the clip spread rapidly across platforms, drawing laughter and admiration from cricket fans online.

Gill’s Record-Breaking Knock Anchors India’s Innings
While the fan moment made headlines, Gill’s performance with the bat was equally memorable. The 26-year-old remained unbeaten on 129 off 196 balls, registering his 10th Test century and fifth as captain. His composed innings, featuring 16 boundaries and two sixes, guided India to a commanding 518/5 declared in the first innings.
In the process, Gill equalled Virat Kohli’s record for the most Test hundreds by an Indian captain in a calendar year and went past Rohit Sharma’s tally.

The platform was set early by Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) and B Sai Sudharsan (87), whose 200-run stand ensured India dominated from the start. Contributions from Dhruv Jurel (44) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (43) added valuable runs before Gill declared midway through Day 2 following Jurel’s dismissal.
West Indies Fight Back After Early Setbacks
In response, the West Indies reached 87 for 2 at stumps on Day 2, still trailing by 437 runs. Alick Athanaze (38) and Tagenarine Chanderpaul (34) steadied the innings after John Campbell (10) fell early, caught off B Sai Sudharsan’s helmet at short leg.
For India, Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers, striking twice to put the hosts in control. With India in a dominant position, fans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium were treated to both on-field brilliance and an unforgettable fan moment off it.
