West Indies clinch ten-wicket win as Simmonds, Jangoo star

West Indies ended their series against Nepal on a high with a commanding ten-wicket victory in Sharjah. Despite Nepal eyeing a historic clean sweep, the Caribbean side put in a clinical performance to deny them the chance.

Simmonds Turns the Game with the Ball

Opting to bowl first on a pitch that offered grip and sideways movement, West Indies’ decision paid off immediately. Ramon Simmonds, brought into the XI, delivered a game-changing spell with figures of 4 for 15. Alongside Jediah Blades’ two wickets, he dismantled Nepal’s middle order.

“𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒔𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝒃𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒊𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆. 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎’𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒏,” 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝑺𝒊𝒎𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒍𝒍.

Nepal struggled to find fluency, with Aasif Sheikh, Paudel, and Bhurtel showing glimpses of resistance. However, consistent breakthroughs and dot-ball pressure restricted them to just 122 in 19.5 overs.

Jangoo and Auguste Dominate in Chase

In reply, West Indies’ openers Amir Jangoo and Ackeem Auguste showed no signs of hesitation. Jangoo smashed an unbeaten 74 off 39 balls, including five towering sixes, while Auguste supported him with 41 not out.

“𝑾𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒈𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔. 𝑻𝒐 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒖𝒏𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒕𝒆𝒏-𝒘𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍,” 𝑱𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒐𝒐 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕-𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉.

The pair raced to the target inside 12.2 overs, ensuring West Indies recorded their first-ever ten-wicket victory in T20Is.

While Nepal claimed the series 2-1, this performance gave the West Indies a strong finish and much-needed confidence heading into their next assignments.
