England Win Over Australia in Women's World Cup Warm-Up

England claimed a thrilling four-wicket victory against Australia in their Women’s World Cup warm-up match in Bengaluru, with Alice Capsey and Sarah Glenn leading the charge. Glenn’s brilliant leg-spin returned 5 for 32, dismantling Australia’s middle and lower order, while Capsey anchored England’s chase with an unbeaten 88.

Australia’s Fightback and Collapse

Australia looked set after a solid start from Phoebe Litchfield, who scored 71, and Beth Mooney’s counterattacking 59* from No. 9. Yet wickets fell at crucial moments, leaving Australia all out for 247 in 34.4 overs.

England’s Steady Chase

England faced early trouble, slipping to 32 for 3, but Sophia Dunkley and Emma Lamb steadied the innings with half-centuries. Capsey paced the chase perfectly, guiding England home with 5.3 overs to spare. Kim Garth was Australia’s standout bowler with 2 for 17, but lacked the support to defend their total.

“Sarah’s spell was exceptional. It really shifted momentum in our favour,” Capsey added, reflecting on Glenn’s impact.
