Kieron Pollard hit back at the constant booing from fans during the CPL 2025 final, even after leading Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) to their fifth championship title against Guyana Amazon Warriors at Providence.
“The Booing Is Boring Now”
Speaking after the victory, Pollard expressed his disappointment at the reception he continues to receive across the Caribbean.
“𝑰𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝑷𝑳, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒏𝒐𝒘. 𝑾𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒄𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒔. 𝑰’𝒗𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔, 𝒚𝒆𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒐𝒘𝒏. 𝑰’𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚—𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇.”
At 38, Pollard highlighted his commitment to the game, saying he plays for love and passion rather than politics.
Record-Breaking Season for Pollard
With this title, Pollard surpassed Dwayne Bravo to become the most decorated T20 player in history with 18 titles. His outstanding season saw him named Player of the Tournament, scoring 383 runs at a strike rate of nearly 175 and smashing a tournament-high 36 sixes.
“𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒆 𝒂 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰’𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆. 𝑭𝒊𝒗𝒆-𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔—𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍.”
Future in T20 Cricket
While Pollard has already stepped away from the IPL to focus on coaching, he confirmed he will continue playing in the ILT20 in the UAE later this year.
“𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏’𝒕 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆. 𝑹𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘, 𝑰 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒚 𝒌𝒊𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒅. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒆𝒔, 𝑰’𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝑳𝑻20 𝒊𝒏 𝑫𝒖𝒃𝒂𝒊 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓.”
