TKR Turn to Franchise Legend for Coaching Role
Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have officially named former West Indies star Dwayne Bravo as their new head coach ahead of the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. Bravo takes over the role from Phil Simmons, who is now serving as the head coach for the Bangladesh menβs national team.
The appointment marks a new chapter for Bravo, who has long been a key figure within the Knight Riders setup, both as a player and mentor.

Bravoβs Legacy with the Knight Riders
Bravo’s CPL career is one of the most decorated in tournament history. He played 107 matches from 2013 to 2024, picking up 129 wickets at an economy rate of 8.74. He represented TKR in nine of the eleven seasons, winning the CPL title five times, including once with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2021.
Beyond the CPL, Bravo has been actively involved with other Knight Riders franchises globally. He was head coach of Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20, served as a mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2025, and had stints as bowling consultant with Chennai Super Kings after retiring as a player in 2022.
Coaching Experience Grows with Global Roles
Bravoβs coaching credentials continue to grow. At the 2024 T20 World Cup, he was the bowling consultant for Afghanistan, who made a historic run to the semi-finals before being knocked out by South Africa.
The upcoming 13th edition of the CPL, running from August 14 to September 21, 2025, will be Bravo’s first major test as head coach in the Caribbean. TKR will look to improve on their 2024 performance, where they finished third in the group stage but exited early after a defeat to Barbados Royals in the Eliminator.
