Bengaluru was gearing up to welcome IPL 2025 champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with a grand celebration, but plans for an open-bus victory parade have now been cancelled. After clinching their first-ever IPL title in 18 years with a dramatic 6-run win over Punjab Kings in the final held in Ahmedabad, the RCB squad returned to Bengaluru on Wednesday morning.
Initially, RCB had planned a celebratory open-bus parade starting from Vidhana Soudha to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, the cityβs traffic police denied permission for the event due to safety and congestion concerns in the Central Business District (CBD). Now, only a felicitation ceremony will take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Fans had been in a jubilant mood ever since RCB ended their long wait for the IPL trophy. Celebrations broke out across the city, with people lighting firecrackers and sharing viral videos online. The team also met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah before the parade announcement was made.
Although the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) tried to work out alternate plans, authorities stood firm on their decision. The team will now be honored with a felicitation ceremony at the stadium as the city celebrates this historic moment in a more controlled setting.
