Amid Chennai Super Kings’ disappointing IPL 2025 campaign, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has advised the franchise to consider trading veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has underperformed with both bat and ball this season. CSK failed to secure a spot in the playoffs for the second consecutive year, prompting calls for significant squad changes.
Ravindra Jadeja’s Underwhelming IPL 2025 Performance Raises Concerns
Ravindra Jadeja managed only 280 runs and 8 wickets across 13 matches, raising concerns about his current impact. Following CSK’s recent defeat to Rajasthan Royals, captain MS Dhoni acknowledged that the team is now focusing on rebuilding for the future, keeping the next IPL auction in mind.
“𝑶𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓. 𝑾𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒊𝒈𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒆. 𝑩𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. 𝑾𝒆’𝒍𝒍 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒂𝒕 𝒂 𝒇𝒆𝒘 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏,” 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝑫𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒊 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕-𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.
Echoing Dhoni’s sentiments, Chopra suggested parting ways with Jadeja and releasing overseas players Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway. Instead, he recommended investing in younger talents like Dewald Brevis, who impressed after joining as an injury replacement.

As CSK looks to revamp its squad, the upcoming mini auction will be crucial in reshaping the team’s future and returning to championship contention.
