Star all-rounder and former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is set to make a return to professional cricket as he is reportedly in talks to join Lahore Qalandars for the remaining matches of PSL 10. This move marks his comeback after months of absence from international and franchise cricket.

According to Bangladeshi media, a senior Lahore Qalandars official confirmed the franchise’s interest in acquiring Shakib’s services.

said the official.
Shakib Al Hasan, who previously represented Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, brings vast T20 league experience and leadership to the table. His inclusion could boost Lahore’s performance as they gear up for the final stretch of PSL 2025.
Shakib’s Political Absence and Cricketing Journey
Interestingly, Shakib has not returned to Bangladesh since the collapse of Sheikh Hasina’s government last year. The political situation escalated when a student-led uprising led to the former Prime Minister fleeing to India. At the time, Shakib was playing in a domestic T20 tournament in Canada, distancing him from the political developments back home.
Despite these interruptions, Shakib remains one of Bangladesh’s most decorated cricketers. The left-arm spinner has taken 712 wickets across formats, having played 71 Tests, 247 ODIs, and 129 T20Is. His last competitive appearance came in November 2024, playing for the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
PSL 10 Resumes on May 17 Amid Cross-Border Tensions
After a brief suspension due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, PSL 10 will resume on May 17, as confirmed by the PCB. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host the opening fixtures upon resumption.
