BCCI Explores Immediate IPL 2025 Restart After Ceasefire Agreement

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is exploring the possibility of restarting the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) soon, following the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire. However, the decision is not entirely in their hands.

In a conversation with the Indian Express, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal stated that the BCCI is currently working on the schedule and coordinating with various stakeholders about resuming the tournament. He emphasized that the resumption is still subject to approval from the Indian government.

“With the ceasefire in place, we’re now looking into the feasibility of resuming and completing the IPL. We need to finalize the venue and dates, and discussions are ongoing with team owners, broadcasters, and other stakeholders to plan the way forward. Above all, we must consult with the government,” Dhumal remarked.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla also confirmed that the IPL governing council will meet on Sunday, May 11, to discuss the next steps and finalize the schedule.
