Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 38 runs in the 51st match of IPL 2025. With this win, the Gujarat team has reached the second position in the IPL 2025 points table. Now only Mumbai Indians are above GT with 14 points in their account, but due to better net run rate, they are ahead of Gujarat.
Gujarat Titans’ Victory Shakes Up the Points Table
This victory of Gujarat Titans has given a big blow to Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB was on top two days ago, but first Mumbai defeated Rajasthan and then Gujarat defeated Hyderabad and pushed them to number-3. RCB also has 14-14 points equal to Mumbai and Gujarat. Apart from MI, GT and RCB, now Punjab Kings team is present in the top-4.

The Gujarat Titans have already won seven of ten matches. With 14 points, the team has reached the second position. However, due to net run rate, GT is not at number 1 but at the second position. The top-ranked Mumbai Indians have a net run rate of +1.274, compared to +0.867 for Gujarat. Mumbai had improved its net run rate significantly by registering a big win of 100 runs against Rajasthan.
Talking about Sunrisers Hyderabad, the team is on the verge of being eliminated from the tournament with its 7th defeat of the season. If SRH has to qualify from here, they will have to win all their remaining matches and also depend on the results of other teams. Currently, the team is at number 9 with only 3 wins in 10 matches. Chennai and Rajasthan are already out of the playoff race.
