Rohit

Rohit Sharma has not been performing well in Test cricket for Team India for some time now.

Former India cricketer Sourav Ganguly believes that Indian captain Rohit Sharma should take the responsibility of turning around Test cricket as the team is not doing well in the format at the moment. The Rohit Sharma-led side failed to qualify for the World Test Championship Final (WTC Final) 2025 after losing two consecutive series against New Zealand and Australia.

India suffered a whitewash in a three-match Test series at home for the first time in their history. They were beaten 0-3 by New Zealand in November 2024. Apart from this, the Indian team lost 1-3 in Australia and failed to complete a hat-trick of series wins in Australia.

Sourav Ganguly gave a big statement about Rohit Sharma

Speaking to Revsportz, Sourav Ganguly said, “His form in red ball cricket in the last 4-5 years has surprised me. A player of his stature and ability can do much better than what he has done. He should focus on his thinking, because we have to play 5 Tests against England and it is going to be another tough series.” If reports are to be believed, Rohit Sharma can also captain the team on the tour of England.

The former legendary cricketer further said, “Just like it happened in Australia. The ball will seam, it will swing. India needs his performance in the red ball, but in the white ball he is one of the greatest players ever.” The Champions Trophy victory has added to Rohit Sharma’s brilliance.

He has won two ICC tournaments in less than a year. In such a situation, it should not be a surprise if he goes to England as captain. However, the Chief Selector has yet to take a decision on this.
