There were many doubts about the new Champions League. But so far, this Champions League has not disappointed football fans at all. On the contrary, there have been one great match after another since the league stage. In the Round of Sixteen, two matches went to tiebreakers. This has left the hosts in a state of shock. Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have lost tiebreakers on their own turf.

All four of the top eight teams in this season’s Champions League have already been eliminated. Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Lille have been eliminated in the round of sixteen. With that, it has been confirmed who will go to the quarter-finals. And there are three great matches in that too.

Last season’s runner-up Borussia Dortmund will play against Barcelona. Meanwhile, another German club Bayern Munich’s opponent is Inter Milan. Current champion Real Madrid will play against English club Arsenal. In another match, PSG will face Aston Villa.

There is extra excitement around the matches between Bayern and Inter and Arsenal and Real Madrid. Inter and Bayern played in the final of the 2009-10 Champions League. Inter won the title by defeating Bayern 2-0.

There is also a long history in the Real and Arsenal fixtures. The Gunners knocked out Real in the last 16 in the 2005-06 season. Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are also considered by many to be the favorites. Aston Villa will play against PSG in the other fixture.

The first leg of the last eight will be on April 8 and 9, with the return leg on April 15 and 16.
